Another thread to our campaign. Supermarkets will stock what people want to buy. If enough people say they do not want to buy them and they will not use that particular shop whilst they are selling fireworks that would have an impact on the stores.
The Co-op haven’t sold fireworks since 2014 and Sainsburys decided in November 2019 not to sell fireworks. Waitrose do not sell fireworks at all.

I am writing to you as I have an ongoing problem with the noise from fireworks.
<INSERT WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS>
Fireworks have become more and more of a problem over the years as they are used so frequently. It is so unpredictable, I never know when I am going to have to endure another batch of fireworks during this difficult time of year. It is constant from late October to middle of November and then on again until January and Chinese New Year.
I sign every petition I see, which have resulted in debates. Yet despite the debates, the Government aren’t changing the law. The firework regulations have not been updated since 2004.
Some vets, including the commercial group “Vets Now” are in support of change. The RSPCA, Dogs Trust and the British Veterinary Association are trying to bring about change too along with support from many other charities.
Other supermarkets have made the decision, Sainsburys and Co-op, to no longer sell fireworks.
Fireworks do not just have an impact on pets, livestock, horses and wildlife, but many groups of people suffer as a result of fireworks, the elderly, war veterans, people with autism. There is a also an impact on the environment. Fireworks create such a high level of pollution in the atmosphere and leave debris all over the ground that this must stop!
The anti social behaviour that starts in earnest when the supermarkets start selling fireworks is plain for all to see.
Will you be the next supermarket to join Co-Op and Sainsburys in not selling fireworks? If this is not an achievable goal for your chain of supermarkets, would you consider ONLY selling quieter fireworks.
Yours faithfully
